Well you can still see all the action here!  CTRG was represented in all 3 scrimmages - see if you can spot your favorite skaters!

Scrimmages 1 and 2 were composed of teams of B and C team skaters from all over the region (New York!  Massachusetts!  Rhode Island!  And of course all three Connecticut leagues!), and scrimmage 3 features coed teams of WFTDA travel team skaters and some of the many handsome dudes of MRDA!

Scrimmage 1 (mixed teams of women’s B/C team skaters from around the region)

Scrimmage 2 (mixed women’s B/C)

Scrimmage 3 (mixed coed travel/A)

Thanks so much to Shoreline Roller Derby for putting this on and letting us co-host - it was a blast, and (even better) the derby community raised five thousand actual dollars for the United Way Sandy Hook Support Fund!

What a bout!  Though the Killah Bees topped the Yankee Brutals (160-90) the Stepford Sabotage came back to defeat Providence’s Rhode Island Riveters 184-152!  This was the first time Sab has beaten the Riveters, and it was a hard-fought win.  Thanks to all who came (to play and to watch) and hopefully we’ll see you at our June 9 bout, where the Stepford Sabotage will take on the Hellions of Troy and the Connecticut Death Quads will face the Capital District Trauma Authority.

Tomorrow night, 8-10!  Come skate with a rollergirl at Rollermagic in Waterbury!  $6.50 gets you in the door (skate rental is extra) to shake, rattle and roll with your favorite ladies on 8 wheels (and maybe some of our favorite rollerdudes) as they gear up for their June 9 home double-header.  Don’t miss it!

Have you registered for CTRG’s Derby in Derby 5K yet?  If a horde of psychotic derby ladies cheering you on doesn’t make you run faster, I really don’t know what will.

What are you doing Saturday night?  Well cancel your date and tell your mama that you’ll be out late because it’s BOUT NIGHT!  What happens when the third smallest state (that’s us, geography nerds) takes on the tiniest state in all of the US?  We’re about to find out!  First up, the Yankee Brutals will challenge Providence Roller Derby’s Killah Bees, and then the Stepford Sabotage will face PRD’s Rhode Island Riveters.  As ever, we’ve got your favorite vendors, beer, snacks (can we talk for a minute about the Walnut Beach Creamery and their insane cupcake ice cream?  I mean DAMN, y’all.), as well as special guests from Girls Inc. of Southwestern CT, and OH YEAH some new and improved parking at CSC.  You won’t want to miss the afterparty at the Winchester, our brand new new afterparty spot, just a hop, skip, and a jump from CSC.

CTRG is proud to offer the CT RollerGirls Cindy Luberto Scholarship, a $500 non-renewable scholarship intended to benefit a woman student athlete in recreational, community, or school athletics. Further information and eligibility requirements can be found on our website, so check it out, pass it on, and send in your applications today!

Don’t forget to register for CTRG’s Derby in Derby 5K!  June 10 is coming up fast!

Shovie Lovie givess Fred Perrywinkle (aka Fredburgers) a bout day mani at Sonic of Wallingford!

What are you doing Friday?  OH WAIT JUST LET ME TELL YOU.  First, hit up Rollermagic in Waterbury to Skate with a Rollergirl!  8-10, $6.50 gets you in the door (skate rental is extra) and jamming out with your favorite roller ladies.  But wait, there’s more!  (Can you believe it?  I can’t believe it!)  Our brothers from another mother, the Connecticut Death Quads, are hosting a showcase of local bands at Elm Bar in New Haven!  We plan to head over after Skate with a Rollergirl, and you should too.  $3 cover.  And what’s this?  CTRG ref/metal god Major N. Fraction’s Shallow Ground is on the docket?  WELL SHIVER ME TIMBERS.

Sunday, join CTRG at Sonic in Wallingford from 10-2.  Flyers!  Tots!  Milkshakes!  Rollerskates!  What’s not to love?

Have you gotten your tickets for our May 19th double-header with Providence Roller Derby yet?

And good luck to Sabotage, who are headed to a secret location in sunny Brooklyn to take on Gotham Girls Roller Derby’s All-Stars on Saturday!  They’re only the number one team in the world right now, no big deal.  Kick some butts, ladies!

CTRG donates to Girls Inc. - check out that awesome giant check!

This Sunday, in our super-secret underground lair (don’t tell anyone, but it’s totally the Batcave), the All-Star Stepford Sabotage will go head-to-head with Dutchland Derby Rollers in a closed bout.  This will be Dutchland’s second game of the weekend (they’re taking on Providence the night before) - will Sab be able to use that fatigue to secure a win?  Will the impending rapture (Saturday!  Mark your calendars!  Make sure you line up an unsaved petsitter!) leave either team shorthanded?  Be sure to check our Facebook feed for updates, and we’ll post a link to the live DNN textcast.

Also Sunday!  The Connecticut Death Quads (fresh off a win over Race City at Spring Roll!) are taking on Infinite Mass in their season opener (and Infinite Mass’s first official bout), featuring 30-minute opener between CTRG’s Yankee Brutals and Suburbia Roller Derby.  Doors at 5:30, whistle at 6 - get tickets and details here!

This Friday, from 8-10 at Rollermagic, come skate with your favorite rollergirls!  $6 gets you in the door, $2.50 gets you skates, and $3.50 (and a willingness to risk your own life for gluttony) gets you mozzarella sticks.  See you there!

Saturday, check out the 2nd Annual Brazen Bettie’s Street Fair in downtown Torrington!  We’ll be there, enjoying the music, fashion show, hula hoop contest, hot rods  vendors, food, and zombies.  Come say hi, eat a cupcake, and help us fight off the zombie masses that are probably just another sign of the apocalypse.  You know you totally want to spend the end of the world with us.

Next Wednesday, you can come Spin with a Rollergirl at goGreen Fitness in Orange.  From 7 - 8:15 PM, saddle up with Rockin’ Rob, and then join us at Dive Bar in West Haven for some post-workout fried pickles.  We hope you can make it!!
